Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial attempts to become an established star failed. Two different record labels signed her and then removed her from the market before she'd released any music. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The track that was the title song was a fun and playful single that garnered little or no interest. She made a greater splash a few months later, with the single "I kissed a Girl an assertive ode to sexual desire backed by a rough electro-pop beat. Many critics accused the track of encouraging homosexual relations however others suggested the song's sexually explicit lyrics were meant to appeal to male fantasies. But the mixture of titillation and polished melodicism made I Kissed a Girl become an instant hit in a variety of countries and drove the sales of her album One of the Boys (2008). Hot N Cold was a hit in America, and the album's second song Hot N Cold with its interesting bouncy, sharp tongued beat gained popularity.
